• Meet Nathan Lochner, Top Las Vegas Dog Trainer

Nathan Lochner was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, but has spent most of his life enjoying the neon lights of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nathan met Lorenzo's Dog Training Team as a former client while training his dogs, Sparky and Sampson. He quickly became a believer in Lorenzo's theory when he saw rapid positive changes in his own dogs. Nathan's knowledge and belief in Lorenzo's Dog Training Team's theory deepened when he added a third dog to his pack, Surabi, a female doberman pinscher.

It was at this point in Nathan's life that he decided to leave his 9 year career in the civil engineering field to become a partner with Lorenzo's Dog Training Team and pursue his true passion for training dogs and their owners.

"I realized that I was having more fun training dogs on the weekend than I was having throughout my normal work week, so it became clear it was time to make the change," Nathan said.

"The most fulfilling part of the job is helping people overcome their personal challenges," he said. "Living with a dog can be a challenge for many people. When I see people put their worries aside and really learn how to live with their animals, it's a rewarding experience. It's especially rewarding knowing that sometimes families and their dogs have to part ways because of behavior issues, but our training can help keep those families together."

He then spent time in Ohio with Lorenzo, undergoing an intensive training program to refine what he learned through his personal experience as a client along with his existing knowledge of dogs.

Since then, Nathan has been very busy training dogs, and building relationships with clients and veterinarians throughout the Las Vegas Valley to help make his market a success, and change the mindset of what professional dog training is all about. Nathan believes that in life, you will get out what you put in, as he is always trying to become more innovative and efficient with his efforts. His future professional goals include making it easier for people and their pets to live in harmony.

Nathan and his wife, Jessica, have been married for over 5 years and have a beautiful young son. Much of his extended family lives in the Las Vegas Valley area as well, including his mother, father, four uncles, and six of his siblings.

"I love Las Vegas because you have that great entertainment lifestyle, but you can also have a real family oriented atmosphere as well," Nathan said, "family is very important to me. Also, for most of the year, the weather is great. I grew up here so the heat doesn't bother me."

While Nevadans are used to the heat of the summer months, Nathan was quick to point out that there are some general rules that dog owners should keep in mind when the temperature in Las Vegas begins to creep higher and higher on the thermometer.

"If you travel with your dog in the car, always make sure to have water that your dog can drink," Nathan said. "Hydration is very important and can be easy to overlook. Obviously, never leave your dog or any animal unattended in a vehicle, even if the air conditioning is going."

"Always provide some way for your dog to cool down because dogs don't regulate their body temperature in the same ways that we do," Nathan added. "They don't sweat like humans, panting is their main way of cooling down. Their sweat glands are mostly located near the pads of their feet, so if your dog is leaving wet paw prints on the ground it can be perspiration due to overheating."

When he's not training dogs, Nathan enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, going to the beach, scuba diving, and keeping up with the latest trends in technology.

For all your dog training needs, questions, and concerns, don't hesitate to contact Nathan Lochner at (702) 494-8393 or click here to email him. He lives in Las Vegas and welcomes the opportunity to build relationships with people and dogs living in the Las Vegas Valley area.

    Lorenzos Dog Training Team

"We were at the point where we were about to put our dog down. We had tried several trainers and classes, but we made very little progress in overcoming our dog's aggression. We heard about Lorenzo's Dog Training Team and decided to give him a try. We brought our dog in for an evaluation with Lorenzo and he felt that he could help us. We signed up for his classes and had great results. We now enjoy having our dog as part of our family and he finally knows that he is loved and appreciated. Without the help of Lorenzo's team, we would not have our dog with us today."

  • Who is Lorenzo?

    Lorenzo

Lorenzo Miller, the founder of Lorenzo's Dog Training Team, first went to dog training school in 1977 as a 10 year old child. Young Lorenzo got in the habit of feeding and looking after the neighborhood strays, which led to a special bond. However, Lorenzo was not supposed to have dogs in his house so he began to sneak them inside. To keep his secret pets hidden, he attempted to train them to behave in his room. Thus began Lorenzo's passion for dog training. Lorenzo later attended dog training school and developed his training technique. In his spare time, Lorenzo enjoys playing the piano and is always reading. His busy schedule doesn't always allow for leisure activities, but Lorenzo loves spending time with his family and children.
